Sheik: The Swift
A downloadable asset pack
My name is Sankalp Sharma and I’m participating in “Search for a Star” games animation challenge 2021. This animation project is about a character who can teleport to her Kunai (ninja weapon). The main aim for me this project was to apply root motion and make it work inside UE4. For that I made a playable character as well. I added a feature to the character where she cannot release until she powers up.
I wanted my character to look calm and attentive at the same time. The poses should be able to define of what type of character she is. After researching I create 4 type of animations :
1. Idle: The character is calm but look observant at the same time. Shows off how good she is when it comes to handling weapons to tell her enemy that they shouldn't be approaching her.
2. Power Up: She throws her kunai and teleports to it charging up her ability to kill her enemy.
3. Release: She throws her kunai towards the enemy and strikes with series of attacks using her teleportation ability, finishing the enemy with a final blow of a flash kick.
4. Recover: Quickly teleporting back to a safe position after killing the enemy calming herself down. That's the way of a ninja to handle a situation.
Participating in this challenge was an amazing experience. I tried to create something unique and I really enjoyed creating all the animations. This one my favourite piece of animation that I did so far. I had a lot of issues that I didn't know how to solve and taking part in this challenge really helped me grow my knowledge. I hope you like my work.
Thank you
